Belarus’ refineries reduce export of motor gasoline by 7.9% in Jan-Oct 2020 to 1.39m tonnes

Belarusian oil refineries (Mozyr Oil Refinery OJSC, Gomel Oblast, Naftan OJSC, Novopolotsk, Vitebsk Oblast) reduced the export of motor gasoline in January-October 2020 by 7.9% year on year to 1.39 million tonnes, the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat) said in a report. </p> <p> </p> <p> Gasoline output in Jan-Oct 2020 was down 1.8% on the year to 2.587 million tonnes. </p> <p> </p> <p> The refineries reduced the export of diesel fuel (including biodiesel) in Jan-Oct 2020 by 18.7% y/y to 2.209 million tonnes. Diesel fuel output decreased by 19% against Jan-Oct 2019 to 4.591 million tonnes. </p> <p> </p> <p> The decrease in the export of gasoline and diesel fuel was largely due to a drop in the volume of processing by the Belarusian refineries in the absence of long-term oil supply contracts with traditional Russian suppliers in January-March 2020 and a decrease in the average export price of oil products in January-October 2020 by 36% year on year to $323.057 per tonne. </p> <p> </p> <p> In January-October 2020, Belarus imported 12.5 million tonnes of oil (down 14.9% on the year) worth $2.895 billion (down 45.9%). The average price of oil imported by Belarus in January-October 2020 stood at $231 per tonne (down 36.5%). </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus reduced the export of oil products in 2019 by 11.7% to 2018 to 10.5 million tonnes. In monetary terms, the export was down 19.7% to $5.2 billion. The revenues fell due to the scheduled repairs at Belarusian refineries, a decrease in prices of oil products, and a drop in the physical volumes of the oil product export due to the contaminated oil incident in the Druzhba oil pipeline. </p> <p> </p> <p> In 2019, the Belarusian refineries reduced motor gasoline output by 14.6% year on year to 2.989 million tonnes, while output of diesel fuel (including biodiesel) increased in 2019 by 2.1% year on year to 6.739 million tonnes.
