Belarus ratifies agreement on EEU origin identification tags
<p> MINSK, Jan 11 - PrimePress. Belarus has ratified the agreement on trademarks, service marks and commodity origin marks in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) signed on February 3, 2020 in Moscow (law No.79-З of January 4, 2021 posted on the National Legal Internet Portal). </p> <p> </p> <p> The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus passed the bill on December 10, 2020; the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus – on December 18, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> The National Center of Intellectual Property is in charge of the execution of the agreement. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the agreement, the EEU member states may file one application with a national patent agency of any EEU member. The ratification enables applicants to reduce the cost of filing the application in relation to the total cost of the filing and simplifies and accelerates the legal trademark protection procedure. </p> <p> </p> <p> The agreement also determines the procedure for registering the place of origin of a trademark, the validity period of trademark certificates, and approves the agreement execution guidelines.
