Belarus raises railway passenger and luggage transportation tariffs for by 5%

Belarus raises inland tariffs for railway passenger and luggage transportation by 5%, as per resolution No.82 of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) of Belarus of December 3, 2020, the MART press office reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Tariffs for regional and interregional transportation will increase by an average of 5%. The tariff for luggage transportation will also increase by 5% on average,” reads the report. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to MART, the tariffs were revised to comply with the target set for 2020 to ensure the cost recovery. “Currently, the population covers below 15% of the costs of the inland passenger transportation by rail. The railway passenger and luggage transportation is not subsidized from the national budget,” the ministry says. </p> <p> </p> <p> Previously, the tariffs for railway passenger and luggage transportation were raised in December 2019. </p> <p> </p> <p> The resolution comes into force in five days after its official publication.
