Belarus raises key rate to curb inflation - Kallaur

The refinancing rate has been raised in Belarus to curb inflation, Chairman of the National Bank of Belarus Pavel Kallaur told a press conference on April 15. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, on April 14 the National Bank decided to raise the refinancing rate in Belarus by 0.75 percentage points to 8.5% per annum from April 21, 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> “This decision, along with other measures, is aimed to curb inflation,” BelTA reports citing Kallaur as saying. </p> <p> </p> <p> He noted that there has been an acceleration in inflation since late 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus’ inflation was 0.7% in March 2021 and 3.8% in January-February.
