Belarus’ prime minister considers 1.8% GDP growth in 2021 achievable

Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko said on January 3 that 1.8% growth of Belarus’ GDP in 2021 is an ambitious yet achievable goal. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, according to the official forecast, Belarus’ GDP is expected to grow by 1.8% and inflation by 5% in 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Much will certainly depend on the global situation and the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. The demand crisis has not been overcome. In the near future, the government will approve a target national development plan for the year with a more detailed descriptions of the tools to achieve this growth,” Golovchenko said on Belarus-1 television channel. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to official statistics, Belarus’ GDP decreased in January-November 2020 by 0.9% year on year.
