Belarus plans to simplify rules for trading in alcoholic beverages, ban foreign entities from alcohol trade
<p> MINSK, Jun 18 - PrimePress. Belarus plans to simplify the procedure for selling alcoholic beverages. This is provided by the draft law "On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On State Regulation of Production and Turnover of Alcoholic and Non-Food Alcoholic Products and Non-Food Ethyl Alcohol," adopted by the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus in the second reading on June 17. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the press service of the House of Representatives, the bill suggests simplifying the rules for trading in alcoholic beverages and beer during the cultural, entertainment and other mass events in public places used for recreation. It also deletes the ban for individuals to store over 5 litres of alcoholic beverages subject to excise stamps, as well as the ban on moving over 15 litres of alcohol by individuals without documents on the legality of their purchase. </p> <p> </p> <p> Legal entities and individual entrepreneurs will be allowed to sell retail alcoholic beverages in shops and pavilions regardless of the sales area. Currently, the area of such shops and pavilions must be at least 50 square metres, except for consumer cooperative shops, specialty shops of alcohol producers, importers, duty-free shops, as well as rural shops of the Presidential Administration of Belarus. </p> <p> </p> <p> The bill also prohibits suppliers of alcoholic beverages from paying any remuneration to the seller of alcoholic beverages. </p> <p> </p> <p> The bill suggests excluding foreign organizations and foreign legal entities from the list of organizations, which enjoy the right to operate in the sphere of production and turnover of alcoholic, non-food alcohol-containing products and non-food ethyl alcohol. </p> <p> </p> <p> It is also proposed to provide an alternative to the compulsory escorting when moving alcoholic beverages in Belarus.
