Belarus plans to open consulate general in Hong Kong
<p> MINSK, Jul 26 – PrimePress. Belarus is planning to open a fourth consulate general in China in addition to three other consulates already running in Chongqing, Guangzhou and Shanghai, Belarus Ambassador to China Yuri Senko told the STV TV channel. </p> <p> </p> <p> The plan to open another consular office is inspired by the prospects of increasing Belarus’ economic presence in this financial and industrial region and in China as a whole, said Senko. </p> <p> </p> <p> “China is a big country that the whole world is now rushing into. Our country is following this path as well, and we are increasing the volume of value-added products supplied to the Chinese market… And in general, our trade proceeds from exports to China, excluding potash fertilizers, which we sell to China, totalled $777 million. In H1 2021 we already have $454 million. Compared to pre-pandemic 2019, the growth is 31%. It is a good performance. And there is room to increase,” the ambassador said. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, the Economy Ministry has estimated that Belarus’ exports of goods and services to China may grow fivefold year on year up to $5 billion. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko said in a TV interview on June 5 that Belarus is ready to refuse Western goods and technologies in response to Western sanctions, as well as to take restrictive measures against foreign businesses operating in Belarus. In his opinion, Belarus is ready to organize prompt and loss-free substitute supplies of goods and technologies, primarily from China and Russia. End </p> <p> </p>
