Belarus plans to increase exports of farm products to China in 2020 to $200m - Ministry of Agriculture

Belarus plans to increase its agricultural exports to China to more than $200 million in 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Alexei Bogdanov, chief of the Agriculture Ministry’s Foreign Trade Department, released these figures at a press-conference on November 13. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to Bogdanov, Belarus sees China as a promising market and is interested in consolidating it and gradually increasing the volume and range of exported products. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Since 2016 98 enterprises have been certified to supply products to China. In Jan-Sep 2020 we exported a record amount of products to China - $187.2 million (2.3 times up yoy). Meat supplies to China during this period increased 3.1 times, milk - 1.8 times and colza oil - 2.6 times… Belarus’ exports of farm products to China has already exceeded the 2019 level. We hope that by the end of the year we will increase this amount to more than $200 million," Bogdanov said. </p> <p> </p> <p> In total, exports of Belarusian agricultural products and foodstuffs grew by 6.1% year on year in January-September 2020 and amounted to $4.2 billion.
