Belarus plans to build 21.5m sq. m. of housing in 2021-2025

Belarus plans to build about 21.5 million square meters of housing in 2021-2025, an increase from 4.1 million square meters in 2021 to 4.5 million square meters in 2025, says the press office of the Ministry of Architecture and Construction. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Emphasis will be put on a gradual increase in the share of construction of rental housing and housing that applies electric energy for heating, hot water supply and cooking. It is planned that the rental housing construction will increase from 250,000 square meters in 2021 to 350,000 square meters in 2025. Taking into account the planned commissioning of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (Astravyets, Grodno Oblast), the construction of multi-apartment electric houses will increase to over 4 million square meters in the next five-year period,” reads the statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> Also, the construction housing for large families is among the priorities. In January-June 2020, 4,857 apartments for large families were commissioned, and 9,086 families were put on the waiting list of those in need of improved housing.
