Belarus plans to boost oil output by 14-18% to 2m tonnes per year

Belarus plans to increase oil output by 14-18% to 2 million tonnes per year, says Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus Andrei Khudyk. </p> <p> </p> <p> “We can produce some more, and we have already set this task. We are going to increase oil output to 2 million tonnes in the coming years,” Khudyk said on Belarus-1 television channel. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus has about 51 million tonnes of commercial oil reserves. “We produce 1.7-1.75 million tonnes of oil per year. Of course, this is a moderate amount even for domestic consumption, let alone the two refineries,” said Khudyk. </p> <p> </p> <p> He said that on February 1, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko held a meeting on modernization and expansion of Belarus’ oil research capacities. “I am sure that a roadmap similar to that of Belgidromet will be drafted and be really helpful for exploring new oil deposits,” Khudyk said. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, the plan for gross oil output in Belarus is part of the strategy of development of the national petrochemical industry for the period to 2030. Belorusneft State Production Association (Rechitsa, Gomel Oblast) plans to maintain Belarus’ oil output at 1.7 million tonnes per year or over till 2030. To this end, Belorusneft is to put at least 50 new wells into operation per year. </p> <p> </p> <p> Rechitsaneft, the oil and gas production department of Belorusneft, is engaged in oil production in Belarus. After stabilizing oil output in 2013-2016 at 1.645 million tonnes, Rechitsaneft has been increasing oil output by around 20,000 tonnes per year. In 2020, Belorusneft extracted 1.71 million tonnes of oil in Belarus. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in exploration works, oil extraction, gas processing, and offers a wide range of seismic exploration operations. </p> <p> Belorusneft provides oil extraction services in Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela and Ecuador, facilitates crude supplies to the Belarusian oil refineries (Mozyr Oil Refinery, Gomel Oblast, and Naftan OJSC, Novopolotsk, Vitebsk Oblast) on a give-and-take basis.
