Belarus’ parliament passes bill on contributions to Social Security Fund

The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus passed on December 16, 2020 in the first reading the bill ‘On Contributions to the State Extrabudgetary Social Security Fund of the Republic of Belarus’, the House’s press office reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> The bill determines the legal basis for mandatory insurance contributions, occupational pension insurance contributions and other payments to the Social Security Fund. </p> <p> </p> <p> “A number of legal acts regulate this area, and it was necessary to systematize them to make an all-in law of them. It is proposed to use the automated system for contributors’ payments and for the Fund management for the collection of contributions,” member of the House’s Standing Committee for Labor and Social Affairs Valery Strelchenok told BelTA state newswire. </p> <p> </p> <p> The bill also introduces a new category of payers–organizations that provide military pay to compulsory-duty servicemen–and formalizes self-employed individuals. Also, those undergoing treatment at occupational therapy detox centers and correctional facility inmates will be regarded as employed if they are engaged in waged works,” says the MP.
