Belarus’ overdue corporate debt to foreign cos down 7.5% in 2020 to $1.018bn

The overdue debt of Belarusian enterprises to foreign companies decreased by 7.5% year on year in 2020 to U.S. $1.018 billion as of Jan 1, 2021, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a report. </p> <p> </p> <p> The overdue debt to Russian companies was down 25.1% in 2020 to Br276.8 million ($106.63m); debts to non-Russian enterprises within the CIS – down 16.6% to Br337.5 million ($130m). </p> <p> </p> <p> The overdue debt to foreign countries other than the CIS states decreased in 2020 by 2.2% to Br680.4m ($262.1 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> Foreign companies’ overdue debt to Belarusian enterprises was down 3.2% in 2020 to Br893.9m ($344.3 million) as of Jan 1, 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> Russian companies’ overdue debt to Belarusian enterprises decreased by 4.4% to $284.4 million as of Jan 1, 2021. The overdue debt of non-Russian enterprises in the CIS was down 23.3% to Br392.3 million ($151.1m). </p> <p> </p> <p> The overdue debt of companies of foreign countries other than the CIS states to Belarusian enterprises totalled Br501.6m ($193.2 million) as of Jan 1, 2021, up 21.9% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus’ overdue external corporate debt was 12.2% bigger than foreign companies’ liabilities to this country as of Jan 1, 2021.
