Belarus opens tender to choose liquor importers in 2022
<p> MINSK, Aug 5 - PrimePress. Belarus has announced an open tender to choose importers of alcoholic beverages in 2022, the commission responsible for holding the tender said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> Importers are invited to present their bids to an interdepartmental commission designated by the Ministry for Antitrust Control and Trade by September 16, 2021. The open tender is due on 22 September 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> Applicants are expected to provide lists of beverages they wish to import (including product names and their Customs Union FEACN Codes), as well as information on the planned amount of import, number of personnel, their average monthly wage, document confirming the absence of debts and budget arrears, etc. </p> <p> </p> <p> Bidders are also supposed to provide a fresh certificate confirming their statutory capital, and a wholesale licence to trade in alcohol and a licence to store alcohol beverages, non-food alcohol products and tobaccos. </p> <p> </p> <p> The winners of the tender are obliged to reimburse the costs of organising and running the tender. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus abolished alcohol import quotas and introduced a state monopoly on alcohol import after President Lukashenko signed a corresponding decree on February 29, 2008. The decree empowers the president to approve the list of successful bidders, while the MART is supposed to monitor how suppliers fulfil their commitments. End </p> <p> </p> <p> The right to import alcoholic beverages to Belarus was granted to 40 companies in 2021, compared to 38 companies in 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> The exclusive right of the state does not apply to the import of elite alcoholic beverages.
