Belarus’ oil products import down 39.9% in Jan-Nov 2020 to 136,700 tonnes

Belarus reduced the import of oil products in January-November 2020 by 39.9% year on year to 136,700 tonnes, according to official statistical report. </p> <p> </p> <p> In monetary terms, the import of oil products in Jan-Nov 2020 was down 30.1% year on year to $106.938 million. The decrease was due to a reduction in supplies of Russian oil products in Jan-Nov 2020 by 22.2% compared with Jan-Nov 2019 to 54,494 tonnes worth $36.608 million (down 18.8%). </p> <p> </p> <p> In Jan-Nov 2020, Belarus also purchased oil products from Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Austria, Poland, Germany, Korea, Belgium, Lithuania, and the UAE. </p> <p> </p> <p> The average price of oil products imported by Belarus in Jan-Nov 2020 rose by 16.3% against Jan-Nov 2019 to $782.393 per tonne. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus reduced the import of oil products in 2019 by 89% against 2018 to 247,400 tonnes; in monetary terms – by 88.4% to $167.748 million. Supplies from Russia decreased in 2019 by 89.7% on the year to 77,900 tonnes; in monetary terms – by 89.5% to $51.13 million. The average price of oil products imported by Belarus in 2019 stood at $656.775 per tonne (up 66% from 2018). Russia set quotas for the supply of oil products to Belarus in November 2018 to prevent the re-export of Russian oil products and liquefied gas.
