Belarus’ net FDI inflow down 14.3% in Jan-Mar 2021 to $1.247bn

The net inflow of foreign direct investments (FDI) decreased by 14.3% year on year in Jan-Mar 2021 to $1.247 billion (excluding debt to direct investor for goods, works and services), Belarus’ National Statistics Agency (Belstat) said in a report. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus defines foreign direct investments as those made by direct investors, whose stake in the statutory capital is at least 10%. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus’ net FDI inflow in the real economy sector totalled $1.069 billion in Jan-Mar 2020, down 9.5%, banking sector – down 35.5% year on year to $162.6 million. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belstat has stopped publishing detailed information about net FDI inflow into Belarusian regions, types of organizations and industries, as well as countries from which investments were attracted. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, net FDI increased 6.6% yoy in 2020 to $1.415 billion.
