Belarus motor fuel market to grow2-3% in 2021 up to 4.1m tons

Belarus’ motor fuel market will grow by 2-3% year on year in 2021 up to 4.1 million tonnes. </p> <p> </p> <p> This was reported by neft.by with reference to Sergey Kamornikov, Belorusneft Deputy Director General, Chief of Crude Procurement. </p> <p> </p> <p> In his words, the domestic fuel market is growing despite the fact that transit through the country has decreased and the cost of automobile fuel in Belarus is higher than in Russia. </p> <p> </p> <p> Kamornikov said that 70% of all petroleum products in Belarus are sold through the retail network of motor fuel refilling stations. The retail market is still dominated by the state-owned network of gas stations, which is branded by Belorusneft. “Russian oil companies account for about 22% of the market. The rest is shared by 20 small independent operators,” said Kamornikov. </p> <p> </p> <p> There are 840 refilling stations of different operators in Belarus now. Belorusneft’s filling station network is the largest in Belarus with more than 570 stations. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belorusneft State Production Association (Rechitsa, Gomel Oblast) plans to build three new filling stations in 2021, reconstruct 12 filling stations and upgrade 21. Belorusneft built four new filling stations and reconstructed nine in 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in exploration works, oil extraction, gas processing, and offers a wide range of seismic exploration operations. </p> <p> Belorusneft provides oil extraction services in Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela and Ecuador, facilitates crude supplies to the Belarusian oil refineries (Mozyr Oil Refinery, Gomel Oblast, and Naftan OJSC, Novopolotsk, Vitebsk Oblast) on a give-and-take basis.
