Belarus may start producing Russian vaccine for coronavirus

Belarus may arrange for domestic production of the Russian vaccine for the coronavirus, Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko said at the Nov 5 meeting on measures taken to counter the spread of viral infections. </p> <p> </p> <p> Lukashenko said: “Yesterday I talked to the President of Russia – they are very seriously concerned about the growing rate of coronavirus incidence. He suggested it himself: ‘If you are interested, we can give you the base raw material for the vaccine. Please, deploy production, we will do everything. Make the vaccine for yourself, if you want to sell it, sell it’. If we are satisfied with the Russian vaccine, study the issue and make urgent proposals on how to organise production. We need to see how much it will cost.” </p> <p> </p> <p> Following the meeting, Boris Androsyuk, Deputy Minister of Health of Belarus, told journalists that the pharmaceutical company Belmedpreparaty could be chosen as a production site for the Russian vaccine. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, during a telephone conversation on Nov 4, Lukashenko proposed to the President of the Russian Federation to organize the production of the Russian vaccine in Belarus, with the transfer of Russian technologies and technological process for this production.
