Belarus may start exporting oil products via Russia’s ports in 2021 – Novak

Belarus may begin exporting a part of its oil products via Russian ports as early as 2021, says Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Novak. </p> <p> </p> <p> “I think it is quite possible that this may be done in 2021, taking into account the agreements and the ongoing talks between the companies. I believe that 2021 is quite a realistic time for the start,” he said. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said in late August 2020 that cargo flows might be redirected from the ports of the Baltic States to Russian ports. This is due to the sanctions imposed by Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia on Lukashenko and other Belarusian officials. Novak said in September 2020 that Belarus might use northwestern Russian ports of Ust-Luga, Primorsk, Vysotsk and St. Petersburg. Lithuanian Klaipedos nafta said in mid-December that Belarus had stopped exporting oil products via Klaipeda under new contracts. End </p>
