Belarus local authorities approach EconMin with 1,000+ investment projects worth Br60bn

Belarus local authorities have offered the Ministry of Economy more than 1 thousand investment projects worth Br60 billion ($24.4 billion at the rate of National Bank of Belarus). Minister of Economy of Belarus Alexander Chervyakov made a statement to this effect on 5 November during the plenary session of the XII international investment forum Mill of Success in Mogilev, said the press service of the Ministry of Economy. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to Chervyakov, the focus of the economic bodies in 2021-2025 is on two issues - regional development and investment. </p> <p> </p> <p> Among this list, he said, some 180 projects, significant for a particular territory, and some 60 large countrywide projects have been identified in conjunction with the regions and ministries. “The range is enormous: from the production of fuel pellets to electric cars. The projects refer to those activities in which the regions specialise: in industry - engineering and petrochemicals, agriculture, transport, logistics, etc.,” he said. </p> <p> </p> <p> Among the priority areas for investment over the next five years in the real sector, Chervyakov named pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, optics and electronics, medical equipment, electric vehicles and automotive components. In the digital sphere, priorities include deployment of the 5G network, implementation of the Smart City concept, introduction of digital factories, creation of 3D printing facilities and robotics systems. Special attention will also be given to investment in science, engineering, medicine, leisure and tourism. </p> <p> </p> <p> To attract businesses to these areas, the government has approved a set of measures to launch a new investment cycle.
