Belarus likely to keep 2021 excise tax on petrol/ diesel fuel unchanged yoy

The 2021 rates of the excise tax on petrol and diesel fuel may be left unchanged at the 2020 level, in accordance with the bill on amendments to the Tax Code of Belarus. </p> <p> </p> <p> The document has been posted on the web site of the Finance Ministry of Belarus. </p> <p> </p> <p> The bill says that the excise tax rate for petrol that does not meet the requirements of Emission Rating Class 5 will be set at Br481.08 per tonne ($197.42) per tonne. </p> <p> </p> <p> For the Emission Rating Class 5 petrol the excise tax will stand at Br298.59 ($122.53) per tonne. </p> <p> </p> <p> The excise tax on diesel fuel that does not meet the requirements of Emission Rating Class 5 will stand at Br233.05 ($95.63) per tonne, up 24.6%; Emission Rating Class 5 diesel – at Br 184.33 ($75.64) per tonne; excise tax on marine fuel also unchanged at Br182.60 ($75.95) per tonne. </p> <p> </p> <p> The document also provides for keeping unchanged the excise tax on liquefied natural gas used as automobile fuel at Br28.71 ($11.78) per 1,000 litres; compressed natural gas used as automobile fuel – Br54.21 ($22.24) per 1,000 litres. </p> <p> </p> <p> The excise tax on natural compressed gas used as fuel shall also stay unchanged at Br108.42 ($44.49) per 1,000 cubic metres. </p> <p> </p> <p> The excise tax on motor oil for diesel and (or) carburettor (injector) engines is expected to stay at Br386.35 ($158.54) per tonne. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, the 2020 rates of the excise tax on petrol have been raised by 10.6-18.2%, diesel fuel – by 24.6-33.2%, depending on the kind of fuel, in accordance with President Lukashenko’s Ordinance #503 of Dec 31, 2019. </p> <p> </p> <p> The new Tax Code sets excise tax rates once for the entire year, without setting different values for the first and the second half of the year.
