Belarus Light Industries prep counter-sanctions plan
<p> MINSK, Jun 14 - PrimePress. Belarus’ Light Industries Concern (Bellegprom) has prepared an action plan in case Western countries introduce sanctions against Belarus’ light industry enterprises. The plan includes the search for alternative suppliers of imported components, as well as the possibility of exports reorienting, Bellegprom CEO Tatiana Lugina said in a TV interview. </p> <p> </p> <p> “We have developed a plan of work to address potential sanctions. We are actively working to look for substitutes for imported components, especially chemical components, because it is no secret that Europe is strong with its chemicals, dyes, things that are necessary for the production of a textile or footwear range. Therefore, today we are working closely on the Turkish market, India, China, so that if suddenly some measures are applied to light industry enterprises, we could reorient both the export component and import dependence to other markets,” Lugina said. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to Lugina, no restrictions by Western partners have been recorded so far. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the official statistics, in January-May 2021, Belarus’ light industry enterprises increased output by 5.8% year on year up to Br1.8 billion ($725.513 million at the rate of National Bank of Belarus).
