Belarus leasing cos’ portfolio up 23.2% in 2020 to Br6.324bn

The total portfolio of lease contracts by Belarus’ leasing companies grew by 23.2% in January-December 2020 to Br6.324 billion ($2.445 billion) as of January 1, 2021, Belarus’ Association of Lease Providers reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> The portfolio of lease contracts with corporate customers stood at Br5.484 billion ($2.12 billion) – a total of 42,236 contracts as of Jan 1, 2021 (up 13.9% since Jan 1, 2020). Lease contracts with corporate customers accounts for 87.7% of the total portfolio. </p> <p> </p> <p> The total number of personal lease contracts reached 222,800. The portfolio was up 10.5% to Br840.1 million ($324.8m). </p> <p> </p> <p> The amount of contracts concluded in Jan-Dec 2020 totalled 126,840 to the tune of Br3.621 billion ($1.4bn). </p> <p> </p> <p> New contracts of Belarus’ leasing companies (the total value of lease items without VAT) accounted for Br2.667 billion ($1.031 billion). The share of banks in the total volume was 6.07%. </p> <p> </p> <p> Overdue leasing fees totalled Br254 million ($98.2m) as of Jan 1, 2021, 4% of the total portfolio against 2.4% as of Jan 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> As of Dec 31, 2020, 112 business entities were listed in the Register of Leasing Organizations of the National Bank of Belarus, and 13 banks.
