Belarus interested in creating full-fledged economic union within EEU - Lukashenko
<p> MINSK, Feb 11 - PrimePress. It is in the interests of Belarus to have a full-fledged economic union created within the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko said in an address to the VI All-Belarusian People's Congress on 11 February. </p> <p> </p> <p> “It is in the interests of Belarus to create a full-fledged economic union within the EEU. We have to admit that everyone is busy minding their own interests. We are fighting for [proceeds from customs] duties, we are fighting for standards, excise duties. We need to improve the efficiency of the Eurasian construction, it is fundamentally important to achieve a meaningful, synergistic effect from the formation of a common market and the unification of economic potential of the member states,” said Lukashenko. </p> <p> </p> <p> In his words, the integration initiatives should be complemented by cooperation in the framework of the EEU and China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
