Belarus’ industrial output up 20.9% in Jan 2021 to Br10.281bn

Belarus’ industrial output increased by 20.9% on the year in January 2021 to 10.281 billion Belarusian rubles (Br), or U.S. $4 billion at the official rate of the National Bank, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of coke and oil products increased by 36% year on year in Jan 2021 to Br1.272 billion ($5.274bn). Output of chemical products was up 36.8% to Br889 million ($344.6 million). Output of foods, beverages and tobacco goods grew by 9.1% year on year to Br2.556 billion ($990.7 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of metallurgical industries was up 27.7% to Br684.5 million ($265.3 million), production of vehicles and equipment grew by 12.4% to Br424.7 million ($164.6 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of plastic and rubber goods, other non-metal mineral products increased by 7% in Jan 2021 to Br549.7 million ($213.1 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of electronic and optical equipment in Belarus increased by 30.7% yr on yr in Jan 2021 to Br150.3 million ($58.3 million), electrical equipment – up 29.5% to Br259 million ($100.4 million). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of machines and equipment (which do not belong to other statistical categories) stood at Br584.1 million ($226.4 million) in Jan 2021, up 12.3% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> As of Feb 1, 2021, industrial inventories made up 65.8% of average monthly industrial output (82.1% as of Feb 1, 2020).
