Belarus’ industrial output down 3.1% in Jan-Jun 2020 to Br52.948bn

Belarus’ industrial output decreased 3.1% on the year in January-June 2020 to 52.948 billion Belarusian rubles (Br), or U.S. $22.066 billion at the official rate of the National Bank, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> Production of coke and oil products reduced by 25.9% year on year in Jan-Jun 2020 to Br5.283 billion ($2.202bn). Output of chemical products was down 9.8% to Br4.377bn ($1.824bn); food products, including beverages and tobacco goods – up 4.4% year on year to Br14.695 billion ($6.124 billion). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of metallurgical industries decreased by 3.8% to Br3.405 billion ($1.419bn), production of vehicles and equipment grew by 1.7% to Br2.258 billion ($941m). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of plastic and rubber goods, other non-metal mineral products decreased by 1.8% in Jan-Jun 2020 to Br3.72 billion ($1.55bn). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of electronic and optical equipment in Belarus increased by 1.8% yr on yr in Jan-Jun 2020 to Br0.795 billion ($331.3m), electrical equipment – down 6.7% to Br1.321 billion ($550.5m). </p> <p> </p> <p> Production of machines and equipment (which do not belong to other statistical categories) stood at Br3.428 billion ($1.429bn) in Jan-Jun 2020, down 14.4% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> As of July 1, 2020, industrial inventories stood at Br5.524 billion ($2.302 billion), or 78.1% of the average monthly industrial output (81.4% as of June 1, 2020, and 63.4% as of July 1, 2019). </p> <p> </p> <p> Industries’ return on sales stood at 9.2% in Jan-May 2020 to compare with 8.4% in Jan-May 2019.
