Belarus’ industrial output down 1.8% in Jan-Sep 2020 to Br83.092bn

Belarus’ industrial output decreased by 1.8% on the year in Jan-Sep 2020 to 83.092 billion Belarusian rubles (Br), or U.S. $32.321 billion at the official rate of the National Bank, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of coke and oil products reduced by 20.7% year on year in Jan-Sep 2020 to Br9.121 billion ($3.548bn). Output of chemical products decreased by 5.6% to Br6.758 billion ($2.629bn). Output of foods, beverages and tobacco goods grew by 3.8% year on year to Br22.386 billion ($8.708 billion). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of metallurgical industries was down 2% to Br5.424 billion ($2.11 billion), production of vehicles and equipment grew by 1.1% to Br3.615 billion ($1.406 billion). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of plastic and rubber goods, other non-metal mineral products reduced by 1.8% in Jan-Sep 2020 to Br6.007 billion ($2.337 billion). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of electronic and optical equipment in Belarus decreased by 1.7% yr on yr in Jan-Sep 2020 to Br1.316 billion ($511.9 million), electrical equipment – down 3.9% to Br2.19 billion ($851.9m). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of machines and equipment (which do not belong to other statistical categories) stood at Br5.336 billion ($2.076 billion) in Jan-Sep 2020, down 13% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> As of Oct 1, 2020, industrial inventories stood at Br5.057 billion ($1.967 billion), or 68.5% of average monthly industrial output (71.5% as of Sep 1, 2020, and 63.1% as of Oct 1, 2019). </p> <p> </p> <p> Industries’ return on sales stood at 9.3% in Jan-Aug 2020 to compare with 9.3% in Jan-Aug 2019.
