Belarus’ industrial output down 0.7% in 2020 to Br116.5bn

Belarus’ industrial output decreased by 0.7% on the year in 2020 to 116.5 billion Belarusian rubles (Br), or U.S. $45.67 billion at the official rate of the National Bank, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of coke and oil products reduced by 10.8% year on year in Jan-Dec 2020 to Br13.454 billion ($5.274bn). Output of chemical products decreased by 0.9% to Br9.373 billion ($3.674bn). Output of foods, beverages and tobacco goods grew by 2.7% year on year to Br30.741 billion ($12.051 billion). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of metallurgical industries was down 9.1% to Br7.52 billion ($2.944 billion), production of vehicles and equipment grew by 5% to Br5.252 billion ($2.056 billion). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of plastic and rubber goods, other non-metal mineral products decreased by 1.5% in Jan-Dec 2020 to Br8.095 billion ($3.17 billion). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of electronic and optical equipment in Belarus decreased by 3.3% yr on yr in Jan-Dec 2020 to Br2.075 billion ($812.5 million), electrical equipment – down 1.1% to Br3.097 billion ($1.213bn). </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of machines and equipment (which do not belong to other statistical categories) stood at Br7.298 billion ($2.857 billion) in Jan-Dec 2020, down 8.9% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> As of Jan 1, 2021, industrial inventories stood at Br5.075 billion ($1.987 billion), or 65.3% of average monthly industrial output (69.1% as of Dec 1, 2020, and 66.3% as of Jan 1, 2020). </p> <p> </p> <p> Industries’ return on sales stood at 9.3% in Jan-Dec 2020 to compare with 8.5% in Jan-Dec 2019.
