Belarus hopes to raise $5.5bn in FDI in 2021-2025

Belarus counts on being able to attract $5.5 billion in net foreign direct investments (FDI) in 2021-2025, Deputy Minister of Economy Anzhelika Nikitina told a press conference on June 15, BelTA reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Plans are in place to attract more than $5.5 billion in direct foreign investment on a net basis within the next current five years,” Nikitina said. </p> <p> </p> <p> In her words, the funds will mainly be directed to the Great Stone Industrial Park, including the development of hi-tech, innovative projects and free economic zones. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, net FDI increased 6.6% yoy in 2020 to $1.415 billion. Net FDI in the real sector increased in 2020 by 8.8% yoy to $1.112 billion. Net FDI in the banking sector increased by 9.8% to $225.6 million. End </p>
