Belarus has no gas debt to Russia – Prime Minister Golovchenko

All payments for consumed gas have been made, Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko said on November 2, 2020 on Belarus-1 TV channel. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The payments for consumed gas have been made. We now have no debt to the Russian Federation,” he said. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Gazprom Transgaz Belarus OJSC was paid for supplied natural gas on October 16, 2020. However, according to the company, in violation of the gas supply contracts, the acts of delivery and acceptance and the accounts reconciliation statements for February-September 2020 were not signed by the gas supplying organizations of Beltopgaz, and neither were the acts of delivery and acceptance for March-September and the accounts reconciliation statements for February-September 2020 by Naftan. The payment period is not indicated in the payment documents. The penalty for the overdue payment for gas has not been paid. </p> <p> </p> <p> Gazprom Transgaz Belarus does not consider the situation with payments for the supplied natural gas fully resolved until the signing of the above documents and a written notification to Gazprom Transgaz Belarus of the payments made and details of the payment in accordance with the contracts in force, as well as the payment of the penalty in full, the company says </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus imports about 20 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia per year at the price of $127 per 1,000 cubic meters as agreed in February 2020. The statistically higher price than that indicated in the contract ($130 against $127) is likely due to the increased calorific value of the supplied gas, as Russian Gazprom said. Belarus does not agree that the calorific value of gas has increased, and pays the price that it set unilaterally, which resulted in the debt to Gazprom. End </p>
