Belarus govt developing credit scheme to finance overhaul of M1 motorway

Belarus’ authorities are busy developing a funding scheme to overhaul the M1 motorway (Brest – Russian border), Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko told journalists on November 5. </p> <p> </p> <p> “We are also planning a major overhaul of the M1 highway. As the project requires a lot of resources, we are currently working on financing mechanisms. Late last year we commissioned a feasibility study, which will then be followed by project design work,” Golovchenko said, as reported by the government’s press-service. End </p> <p> </p> <p> In the meantime, premier Golovchenko inaugurated the reconstructed section from Slutsk to Soligorsk of the P23 Minsk-Mikashevichi motorway on 5 November. The two-lane road has been upgraded to four lanes and fully complies with the first-category standards. The project to upgrade the motorway was started in June 2020, with Br78m ($31.72m) invested.
