Belarus gets $20m loan from OPEC Fund
<p> MINSK, Jul 30 - PrimePress. The OPEC International Development Fund has transferred to Belarus a loan in the amount of $20 million to finance healthcare activities, the Finance Ministry of Belarus said in a report. </p> <p> </p> <p> “In line with the loan agreement signed by Belarus and the OPEC International Development Fund on 24 December 2020 (Public Healthcare Emergency Response Program, Phase I), a $20 million loan was transferred to the Belarusian budget on 28 July 2021,” the message reads. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, these funds are to be used for cover Belarus’ public budget expenses to fight the COVID-19 coronavirus, without being tied to the intended use. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Framework Agreement between Belarus and the OPEC Fund for International Development was signed on February 3, 2021. The document secures mechanisms of cooperation between Belarus and the OPEC Fund and regulates its investment activities in the Republic of Belarus. End </p>
