Belarus, Gazprom continue gas supply talks Dec 16, 2020
<p> MINSK, Dec 16 - PrimePress. Head of Russian gas monopolist Gazprom Alexei Miller met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Russian Federation Vladimir Semashko and Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich on December 16, 2020 in St. Petersburg to negotiate the terms of Russian gas supplies to Belarus and its transit through the country from January 1, 2021, Gazprom’s press office reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Deputy Prime Ministers of Belarus and Russia Yuri Nazarov and Alexander Novak discussed on November 27, 2020 oil and gas supplies to Belarus in 2021 and the redirection of Belarusian oil products intended for export from Baltic States’ to Russian ports. The line government agencies were instructed to continue consultations. </p> <p> </p> <p> The price of Russian gas for Belarus in 2020 under the current contract, which expires on December 31, 2020, stands at $127 per thousand cubic meters. Belarus has been insisting on a lower price since the beginning of the year. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko said in November that he expected Russia to set an attractive gas price for 2021 in the near future. End </p>
