Belarus’ foreign debt up 0.08% in Nov 2020 to $19.787bn

Belarus’ state foreign debt increased by 0.08% month on month in November 2020 to U.S. $19.787 billion as of December 1, 2020 by the International Monetary Fund’s Special Data Dissemination Standards, reads a report posted on the website of the Finance Ministry. </p> <p> </p> <p> The government’s long-term debt accounted for 91.53% of the total foreign debt in Nov 2020 (91.53% in Oct 2020), the government’s short-term debt for 0% (0%), and foreign loans to companies’ against the government’s security for 8.47% (8.35%). </p> <p> </p> <p> The Finance Ministry says Belarus took out external public loans in the amount of $2.596 billion in Jan-Nov 2020 and transferred $1.468 billion to redeem external liabilities. </p> <p> </p> <p> In 2019, the foreign debt decreased by 1.4% by the International Monetary Fund’s Special Data Dissemination Standards to $18.502 billion as of Jan 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus’ main creditors are Russia, China, the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
