Belarus’ food industry reports 5.4% increase in whole-milk products output in 2020 to 2.1m tonnes

Food industry enterprises of Belarus increased output of whole-milk products (in milk equivalent) in January-December 2020 by 5.4% year on year to 2.1 million tonnes, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a report. </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of low-fat dairy products (in skim milk equivalent) decreased by 26.9% to 66,300 tonnes. </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of butter in 2020 was up 3.4% year on year to 119,500 tonnes; cheese (except cream cheese spread) – up 11.1% to 269,200 tonnes. </p> <p> </p> <p> Output of powdered milk and cream increased by 5.7% to 158,600 tonnes; unsolid condensed milk and cream – up 20.6% to 78,400 tonnes. </p> <p> </p> <p> As of January 1, 2021, whole-milk product inventories amounted to 19,900 tonnes (11.4% of monthly average output), low-fat dairy products – 900 tonnes (15.5%); butter – 4,800 tonnes (48%); cheese – 8.600 tonnes (38.2%); powdered milk and cream – 4,900 tonnes (40.6%); unsolid condensed milk and cream – 2,400 tonnes (46.9%).
