Belarus’ farm product and food exports up 6.3% in Jan-Aug 2020 to $3.7bn

Belarus increased exports of farm products and foods in January-August 2020 by 6.3% year on year to $3.7 billion, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s Foreign Trade Department Alexei Bogdanov told PrimePress. </p> <p> </p> <p> The export of meat and meat products increased in Jan-Aug 2020 by 12% to $650 million; milk and dairy products – by 7.2% to $1.6 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports to CIS countries (except Russia) were up 46% to $451 million. The share of these countries in total exports was at 12% in Jan-Aug 2020, up 3.3 percentage points. Belarus supplied products worth $2.8 billion to the Russian Federation. Russia accounted for 74.9% of total exports, down 6.8 pp. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports to outside the CIS increased by 45% in Jan-Aug 2020 to $487 million. Exports to China were up 160% to $160 million. The share of the countries other than the CIS members in total exports grew by 3.5 percentage points to 13%. </p> <p> </p> <p> In Jan-Aug 2020, Belarus supplied farm products and foods to 103 countries (93 in Jan-Aug 2019). </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus intends to increase exports of farm products and foods in 2020 by 4.2% to $5.729 billion.
