Belarus’ farm output up 4.9% yr in 2020 to Br22.914bn

Belarus’ farm output grew by 4.9% on the year in January-December 2020 to 22.914 billion Belarusian rubles ($8.888 billion at the official exchange rate), the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a report. </p> <p> </p> <p> Sales of fattened cattle and poultry increased by 2.6% on the year in 2020 to 1.681 million tonnes; milk sales grew by 5.6% to 7.509 million tonnes, eggs – to 3.488 billion, down 0.7% against 2019. </p> <p> </p> <p> The value of accounts payable in the agricultural sector stood at Br8.856 billion ($3.435 billion) as of Jan 1, 2021, up 4.2% year on year. Overdue accounts payable totaled Br2.41 billion ($934.8 million) as of Jan 1, 2021, down 10.6% against Jan 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Accounts receivable amounted to Br1.712 billion ($664 million) as of Jan 1, 2021, up 6.5% against Jan 1, 2020. Overdue accounts receivable totaled Br447.3 million ($173.5 million), down 0.3%. </p> <p> </p> <p> The share of loss-making agricultural companies as of Dec 1, 2020 made up 8% (103) of the total number to compare with 7.8% (100) as of Dec 1, 2019. </p> <p> </p> <p> The total net profit earned by Belarus’ agricultural companies in Jan-Nov 2020 stood at Br916.3 million ($355.4m), down 6.5% year on year.
