Belarus’ farm output up 4.6% yr in Jan-Oct 2020 to Br20.592bn

Belarus’ farm output grew by 4.6% on the year in January-October 2020 to 20.592 billion Belarusian rubles ($8.044 billion at the official exchange rate), the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a report. </p> <p> </p> <p> Sales of fattened cattle and poultry increased by 4.5% on the year in Jan-Oct 2020 to 1.416 million tonnes; milk sales grew by 6.6% to 5.696 million tonnes, eggs – to 2.95 billion, down 0.6% against Jan-Oct 2019. </p> <p> </p> <p> The value of accounts payable in the agricultural sector stood at Br8.945 billion ($3.494 billion) as of Oct 1, 2020, up 5.3% year on year. Overdue accounts payable totalled Br2.398 billion ($936.7 million) as of Oct 1, 2020, down 11.1% against Jan 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Accounts receivable amounted to Br1.719 billion ($671.5 million) as of Oct 1, 2020, up 7% year to date. Overdue accounts receivable totalled Br442.1 million ($172.7 million), down 1.4%. </p> <p> </p> <p> The share of loss-making agricultural companies as of Oct 1, 2020 made up 7.6% (98) of the total number to compare with 8% (104) as of Oct 1, 2019. </p> <p> </p> <p> The total net profit earned by Belarus’ agricultural companies in Jan-Sep 2020 stood at Br813.5 million ($317.8m), up 1.1% year on year.
