Belarus’ farm output up 4.1% yr in Jan-May 2020 to Br5.237bn

Belarus’ farm output grew by 4.1% on the year in Jan-May 2020 to 5.237 billion Belarusian rubles ($2.163 billion at the official exchange rate), the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a report. </p> <p> </p> <p> Sales of fattened cattle and poultry increased by 5.4% on the year in Jan-May 2020 to 706,500 tonnes; milk sales grew 6.6% to 2.777 million tonnes, eggs – down 1.3% to 1.446 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> The value of accounts payable in the agricultural sector stood at Br8.828 billion ($3.646 billion) as of May 1, 2020, up 3.9% year on year. Overdue accounts payable totaled Br2.649 billion ($1.094 billion), down 1.7% against Jan 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Accounts receivable amounted to Br1.682 billion ($694.6 million) as of May 1, 2020, up 4.6% against Jan 1, 2020. Overdue accounts receivable totaled Br446.7 million ($184.5 million), down 0.4%. </p> <p> </p> <p> The share of loss-making agricultural companies as of May 1, 2020 accounted for 10% (131) of the total number to compare with 10.5% (138) as of May 1, 2019. </p> <p> </p> <p> The total net profit earned by Belarus’ agricultural companies in Jan-May 2020 stood at Br418.4 million ($172.8m), up 10.1% year on year.
