Belarus’ farm output down 0.5% yr in Q1 2021 to Br3.212bn

Belarus’ farm output reduced by 0.5% on the year in January-March 2021 to 3.212 billion Belarusian rubles ($1.27 billion at the official exchange rate), the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a report. </p> <p> </p> <p> Sales of fattened cattle and poultry decreased by 4% on the year in Jan-Mar 2021 to 404,500 tonnes; milk sales grew by 1.9% to 1.649 million tonnes, eggs – to 813.6 million, down 1.8% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> The value of accounts payable in the agricultural sector stood at Br8.74 billion ($3.47 billion) as of Mar 1, 2021, down 0.2% year on year. Overdue accounts payable totalled Br2.49 billion ($987.5 million) as of Mar 1, 2021, up 2.4% year to date. </p> <p> </p> <p> Accounts receivable amounted to Br1.74 billion ($690.1 million) as of Mar 1, 2021, up 2.3% year to date. Overdue accounts receivable totalled Br479 million ($190 million), up 2.1%. </p> <p> </p> <p> The share of loss-making agricultural companies as of Mar 1, 2021 made up 10% (128) of the total number to compare with 11.1% (142) as of Mar 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> The total net profit earned by Belarus’ agricultural companies in Jan-Feb 2020 stood at Br196.8 million ($78.05m), down 39% year on year.
