MINSK, Aug 17 – PrimePress. Belarus’ export strategy envisages active promotion of products with a focus on Russia, China and India, said First Deputy Minister of Economy Yury Chebotar.

"First of all, China is a huge market - more than $2 trillion. According to estimates by international experts, even this year China’s growth is expected to grow by around 8%. Accordingly, our opportunities there are limitless. Another area is the Indian market, which is expected to grow by more than 8%. It is also a promising market, it should be explored,” the press service of the Ministry of Economy reported citing Chebotar as saying.

“Africa is a very big market, many countries are now looking at it. Here, according to many experts, it is estimated to grow by 4%. We have already made rough calculations and we have the potential to sell nearly $200m worth of food products. There is a very big need in this market for investment goods. Africa is a mining country, a lot of minerals come from there. That is why our machinery and equipment are in demand there. The potential is nearly $0.5 billion, according to our calculations,” he said.

According to him, Russia remains the main market for Belarus. “According to our estimates and the estimates of our Russian colleagues, the Russian economy will grow at a rate of 3-4% in the next few years, especially with the implementation of modernization programs. About 4-5%, that is, their investment programs will be renewed at a higher rate. Accordingly, there is the possibility of supplying our main investment export products: machines and equipment, trucks. We already see all this even in the current year by the explosive growth, almost twofold, of export of large-capacity trucks,” said Chebotar.

As previously reported, Belarus’ foreign trade turnover of goods and services increased by 30.5% year on year in January-June 2021 up to $42.399 billion.
