Belarus’ excise duties on motor fuel may remain unchanged in 2022

Excise duty rates for motor fuels and motor oils may remain unchanged year on year in 2022, in accordance with the draft law ‘On Amendments to the Tax Code of the Republic of Belarus’. The bill has been published on the web site of the Finance Ministry of Belarus. </p> <p> </p> <p> The excise rate on motor gasoline other than Euro-5 currently stands at Br3,849 ($1.539 at the rate of the National Bank of Belarus) per ton; Euro-5 class gasoline - Br2,389 ($955.49) per ton; diesel fuel other than Euro-5 - Br1,864 ($745.76) per 1 ton; Euro-5 class diesel fuel - Br1,475 ($589.86) per 1 tonne. </p> <p> </p> <p> The excise rate on marine fuel is Br182.6 per tonne ($73.04), liquefied PBA and PA hydrocarbon gas - Br28.71 ($11.48) per 1,000 litres, PT and BT liquefied hydrocarbon gas - Br54.21 ($21.68) per 1,000 litres. </p> <p> </p> <p> Excise duty on compressed natural fuel gas is Br108.42 ($43.37) per 1 thousand cubic metres, the excise duty on oil for diesel and carburetor engines - Br386.35 ($154.54) per tonne. </p> <p> </p> <p> Excise duty rates on fuel are set for the entire year 2021 without a breakdown by half-year. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, in accordance with President Lukashenko’s ordinance #53 of 18 Feb 2021, excise duty rates for motor fuels and motor oils were raised 8 times from the previous level. </p> <p> </p> <p> Previously, 2021 excise duty rates for motor fuels and motor oils were kept at the level of 2020 ((law No.72-З ‘On Amendments to the Tax Code of the Republic of Belarus’ of 29 December 2020: the excise duty rate on motor gasoline other than Euro-5 was set at Br481.08 per tonne since January 1; Euro-5 gasoline – Br298.59 per tonne; diesel fuel other than Euro-5 – Br233.05 per tonne; Euro-5 diesel fuel – Br184.33 per tonne.
