Belarus’ electricity import from Russia up 17.1% in Jan-Apr 2021 to 14.493m kWh

Belarus’ electricity import from Russia increased by 17.1% year on year in January-April 2021 to 14.493 million kWh, Belarus’ National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a statistical report. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus increased spending on electric energy import from Russia in Jan-Apr 2021 by 17% year on year to $604,500. </p> <p> </p> <p> The average price of electricity imported from Russia in Jan-Apr 2021 stood at $42 per 1,000 kWh, up 0.6% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> All in all, in January-April 2021, Belarus imported 15,141 kWh of electricity (+18.5% yoy) worth $644,800 (+19.3%) at a price of $43 per thousand kWh (up 0.6% yoy). </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus purchases a small amount of electric energy from Russia and Ukraine as part of agreements for the provision of mutual emergency assistance, and for energy supplies to near-border localities.
