Belarus reduced the export of electric energy to Lithuania in January-August 2020 by 62% year on year to 367 million kWh, according to the official statistics. </p> <p> </p> <p> In monetary terms, Belarus reduced the electricity export to Lithuania in Jan-Aug 2020 by 62% on the year to $19.304 million. </p> <p> </p> <p> The average price of electric energy exported to Lithuania in Jan-Aug 2020 increased by 1% year on year to $52.6 per 1,000 kWh. </p> <p> </p> <p> In January-August 2020, Belarus exported electric energy mainly to Lithuania and Ukraine, and small amounts to Latvia and Estonia. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus increased the electricity export to Lithuania in 2019 by 45.7% from 2018 to 1.508 billion kWh. In monetary terms, the export increased by 42.3% to $77.298 million. The average price stood at $51.229 per 1,000 kW h (down 2.3% year on year). </p> <p> </p> <p> In total, in 2019, Belarus exported 2.370 billion kWh (up 127% from 2018) to Lithuania, Latvia and Ukraine worth $123.563 million (up 126%). The average price decreased in 2019 by 0.8% from 2018 to $52.129 per 1,000 kWh. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus exports electricity to the Lithuanian Nord Pool Spot Electricity Exchange, abiding by the rules for electricity trade in the Baltic States, according to which electricity can be supplied from third countries (including Russia and Belarus) in the day-ahead mode without long-term contracts. Therefore, the volume of Belarus’ electricity export is primarily determined by electricity prices in Belarus and in the Baltic States. End </p>
