Belarus electricity consumption up 7% in Jan-Sep to 29.5bn kWh

Belarus’ electricity consumption increased by 7% year on year in January-September 2021 and amounted to 29.5 billion kWh, the Minister of Energy Viktor Karankevich said at a meeting with the employees of Grodno CHP-2, the press service of the Ministry of Energy informs. </p> <p> </p> <p> At the same time, electricity consumption by the real sector increased by 1.12 billion kWh in January-September 2021, by 200 million kWh by private households and by 630 million kWh by the energy system. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to Karankevich, in 2021 there was a steady growth in electricity consumption - it became possible after the main measures meant to integrate the nuclear power plant into the national power grid were completed. In particular, an inter-industry complex of measures to increase electricity consumption is being implemented, under which new production facilities are created and existing ones are modernized.
