Belarus’ electric energy consumption down 1.75% in Jan-Jun 2020 to 18.54bn kWh

Belarus’ electric energy consumption decreased in January-June 2019 by 1.75% on the year to 18.54 billion kWh, reads the report by state monopolist Belenergo posted on its official website. </p> <p> </p> <p> Electricity output decreased by 4.68% year on year in Jan-Jun 2020 to 16.73 billion kWh. </p> <p> </p> <p> The decrease in electricity output in the first half of 2020 was due to a decrease in the electricity export. In January-June 2020, Belarus supplied electricity mainly to Lithuania. Belarus reduced the export of electricity to Lithuania in Jan-Jun 2020 by 39.7% year on year to 279.9 million kWh. </p> <p> </p> <p> Energy Ministry’s enterprises increased electricity output in 2019 by 3.8% yoy to 40.3 billion kWh. The total electricity consumption in Belarus increased in 2019 by 0.4% yoy to 37.9 billion kWh, while the electricity exports increased 127% to 2.370 billion kWh. </p> <p> </p> <p> The rated capacity of generating sources in Belarus is over 10.143ml MW, including 9.109ml MW in the rated capacity of 68 generating sources of Belenergo.
