Belarus draws $19.55m loan from China Exim Bank to rebuild Stolbtsy substation
<p> MINSK, Sep 23 - PrimePress. Belarus has drawn a $19.55 million preferential buyer credit of the Export-Import Bank of China for a project to reconstruct the 220 kV Stolbtsy substation (Minsk Oblast): Stolbtsy will be converted to a 330 kV substation. The project also provides for building a 330 kV high voltage line from Stolbtsy to Baranovichi as part of activities to integrate the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP, Astravyets, Grodno Oblast) into Belarus’ power grid. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarusbank has been appointed the agent bank for servicing the loan. The Ministry of Finance will handle the loan at the expense of the funds provided in the national budget for the current and subsequent fiscal years for servicing and repayment of the external public debt. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, in accordance with government resolution #355 of 23 June 2021, the government of Belarus authorised the Ministry of Finance of Belarus to negotiate the draft loan agreement and to sign it when an agreement was reached. </p> <p> </p> <p> The project “Belarus NPP Construction. Power supply and connection with the energy system” provides for the construction of 1,032.5 km of 330 kV overhead transmission lines of in Grodno, Minsk and Vitebsk regions, reconstruction of 672.4 km of existing 330 kV high voltage transmission lines, reconstruction of four facilities at Minsk TPP-4, the 330 kV substation Ross, the 220 kV substation Stolbtsy, the 330 kV substation Smorgon, and construction of a new 330 kV substation Postavy.
