Belarus’ crude oil import up 53.1% in Jan-Apr 2021 to 5.584m tonnes

Belarus increased crude oil import by 53.1% year on year in January-April 2021 to 5.584m tonnes, and 3.3 times in value terms to $2.167 billion, at the average price of $388 per tonne, up 2.23 times year on year, the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat) reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> In Jan-Apr 2021, Belarus imported crude oil only from CIS member states. In Jan-Apr 2021, Belarus imported $1.991 billion worth of oil from Russia (Belstat does not specify the physical volume of oil), which is 4.5 times more than in Jan-Apr 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus reduced crude oil import by 11.12% year on year in 2020 to 16 million tonnes: Belarus imported 15.2 million tonnes of oil from CIS member states (the value has not been specified), and 0.8 million tonnes of oil worth $189.482 million from countries outside the CIS </p> <p> </p> <p> In 2020, Belarus reduced oil imports in value terms by 40.8% to $3.890 billion from 2019. The import from the Russian Federation decreased in 2020 by 47.6% to $3.441 billion year on year. The import from Azerbaijan totalled $244.095 million; Lithuania – $72.032 million; Norway – $52.568 million; Saudi Arabia – $13.146 million; the United States – $51.735 million; Kazakhstan – $375,900.
