Belarus’ cos report 68.5% decrease in net profit in Jan-Sep 2020 to Br3.049bn

Belarusian companies report a 68.5% year-on-year decrease in their net profit in January-September 2020 to Br3.049 billion ($1.19 billion at the rate of the National Bank of Belarus), the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> Revenues from sales of products, goods, works and services in Jan-Sep 2020 stood at Br184.6 billion ($72.225bn), up 4.4% on the year. The cost of sold products, goods, works and services amounted to Br147.5 billion ($57.709bn), up 3.5% on the year. </p> <p> </p> <p> The sales margin of sold products, goods, works and services in Jan-Sep 2020 was at 9.7% to compare with 9.1% in Jan-Sep 2019. Profitability in industry made up 12.1% (11.1% in Jan-Sep 2019), agriculture – 6.8% (6.3%), construction – 10.8% (8%), wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repair – 2.8% (2.1%), transport – 9.3% (9.8%), information and telecommunication – 29.9% (31.4%). </p> <p> </p> <p> The share of loss-making enterprises in Jan-Sep 2020 made up 17.6% against 13% in Jan-Sep 2019. The number of loss-making enterprises increased to 1,185 in Jan-Sep 2020 from 879 in Jan-Sep 2019. The net loss of loss-making enterprises totaled Br6.458 billion ($2.521bn), up 570% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> The share of loss-making industrial enterprises in Jan-Sep 2020 made up 20.9% against 17.8% in Jan-Sep 2019 (331 in Jan-Sep 2020 against 282 in Jan-Sep 2019); in agriculture – 7.6% against 8% (98 against 104); construction – 16.5% against 14.8% (146 against 131); wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repair – 23.5% against 16.9% (196 against 141); transport – 23.9% against 14% (128 against 75), information and telecommunication – 11% against 8.4% (30 against 23). </p> <p> </p> <p> The net profit of Belarusian companies in 2019 totaled Br10.721 billion ($4.194bn), up 80% from 2018.
