Belarus’ cos report 61.5% decrease in net profit in Jan-Jun 2020 to Br2.687bn

Belarusian companies report a 61.5% year-on-year decrease in their net profit in January-June 2020 to Br2.687 billion ($1.032 billion at the rate of the National Bank of Belarus), the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> Revenues from sales of products, goods, works and services in Jan-Jun 2020 stood at Br117.8 billion ($45.3bn), up 1.6% on the year. The cost of sold products, goods, works and services amounted to Br94.2 billion ($36.2bn), up 0.6% on the year. </p> <p> </p> <p> The sales margin of sold products, goods, works and services in Jan-Jun 2020 was at 9.4% to compare with 8.8% in Jan-Jun 2019. Profitability in industry made up 11.8% (10.8% in Jan-Jun 2019), agriculture – 5.8% (5.4%), construction – 11.3% (6.7%), wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repair – 2.5% (1.9%), transport – 8.5% (9.5%), information and telecommunication – 30.9% (29.1%). </p> <p> </p> <p> The share of loss-making enterprises in 1H20 was at 18.6% against 14.1% in 1H19. The number of loss-making enterprises increased to 1,266 in Jan-Jun 2020 from 958 in Jan-Jun 2019. The net loss of loss-making enterprises totaled Br4.035 billion ($1.55bn), up 470% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> The share of loss-making enterprises in Jan-Jun 2020 made up 21.5% against 17.2% in 1H19 (341 in Jan-Jun 2020 against 273 in Jan-Jun 2019), in agriculture – 8.6% against 9.9% (112 against 129), construction – 16.6% against 16.3% (147 against 145), wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repair – 25.7% against 19.4% (219 against 165), transport – 26.9% against 16.2% (144 against 87), information and telecommunication – 11.4% against 9.9% (31 against 27). </p> <p> </p> <p> The net profit of Belarusian companies in 2019 totaled Br10.721 billion ($4.119bn), up 80% from 2018.
