Belarus’ container transit via China-Europe-China route up 43% in Jan-Aug 2021 to over 470,000 TEU

Belarus increased container transit via China - Europe – China by 43% year on year in January-August 2021 up to more than 470,000 units. </p> <p> </p> <p> Vladimir Morozov, head of Belarusian Railways, mentioned these details during the XXX plenary session of the International Trans-Eurasian Transport Coordination Council. </p> <p> </p> <p> In his words, even under the complicated conditions of the pandemic the international freight traffic by rail is carried out without any interruptions, including Asia-Europe-Asia traffic. </p> <p> </p> <p> “2020 was an important year for Belarusian Railways in terms of the railway container business. For the first time, more than 1 million TEU containers were transported in all types of traffic (40% more than in 2019). A significant volume of container cargoes was transported on the China route,” Morozov said. </p> <p> </p> <p> He said that in addition to the Brest-Terespol border crossing, container trains are being organized through the Belarusian-Polish border crossings Bruzgi - Kuznica Bialostocka and Svisloch - Siemianówka. Container projects via Kaliningrad Oblast are being actively developed, including multimodal transport via the Port of Kaliningrad. End </p>
